APMP NCA Annual Conference: Call for Speakers

INTRODUCTION

The Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) National Capital Area (NCA) Chapter formally requests applications to speak at the 2010 Annual Conference. The conference is scheduled for October 12, 2010 in Falls Church, Virginia. We invite our Chapter members, members of APMP worldwide, and industry experts to participate.

The selected presenters will deliver a 45-60 minute presentation on a topic related to the conference theme, “Connecting the Dots.” This theme helps participants make connections between various aspects of our profession, i.e. between the capture and proposal phase or between theory and practice.

The conference is divided into four tracks; each track will have 5-6 presentations, which will run simultaneous. Participants can choose which track to attend during each timeslot. The tracks are as follows:

  • Master’s Track: topics and presentations are geared toward a senior audience with many years’ experience. Topics should address master-level content and current industry trends and best practices. An example topic includes “Emergence of past performance and pricing tradeoffs in evaluating proposals.”
  • Best Practices in the Business Development Lifecycle: this track covers topic spanning the BD lifecycle, from capture management to proposal development to orals.
  • Small Business and Non-Profit Concerns: topics are geared toward challenges and concerns faced by small businesses, non-profit companies, and other socio-economic status corporations selling to the Federal Government. Potential topics include working with small proposal teams/limited resources; using socioeconomic status to gain an advantage with the government; and teaming with small businesses.
  • Financial and Pricing: topics should cover concerns with developing the price/cost volume and managing the financial aspects of a contract. Potential topics include Price to Win; integrating technical and price volumes; developing pricing strategies; and advantages or risks to different contract types
